Yesterday, Spinners Mill hosted its very first 501st Garrison Armour Party – and what a fantastic success it was!
We were delighted to welcome such a great turnout from the Northwest Garrison, with the Community Room buzzing with activity from the moment the day began. During the morning session, Catfood Rob led a hands-on workshop demonstrating armour trimming and fitting techniques, giving everyone the chance to get involved and learn new skills.
A huge thank you goes to the wonderful team at the Northwest Computer Museum for providing lunch. Helen worked her magic with a delicious spread of sandwiches, chilli, nachos, muffins and soft drinks that kept everyone fuelled throughout the day.
In the afternoon, the group joined us at Clothears Costumes and Props for a series of practical tutorials covering fasteners, weathering and damage effects, paint application techniques, and a lively Q&A session. Discussions ranged from old-school crumbling shoe polish tricks to hours spent finding screen accurate found parts – there was something for everyone to take away.
It was a brilliant day filled with learning, creativity, laughter, and great company. And of course, no visit would have been complete without rounding off the day with a trip to the Mill Micropub!
Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the event such a memorable one. Here’s to the next Armour Party!
