The base vest is made from a padded and quilted custom dyed waffle fabric edged with leather edging.
The over vest is made from khaki cotton canvas edged with double stitched suede. There are metallic leather padded inserts to the front of the over vest and the rear of the under vest, these are weathered. The over vest has the two leather shoulder straps that are edged with canvas. On top of these straps there is a nylon webbing harness that has rows of double eyelets punched in along the length and two brass roller buckles, attached to this are two alice tightening straps with various pieces of hardware and red flat cord. The harness is secured to the vest and shoulder straps with various webbings and cotton tapes. The webbing then carries on down to the belt where it attaches via a large 3mm thick water jet cut, solid brass loop.
The belt is made up of a veg tan leather base with leather edged, heavy duty cotton webbing channels carrying 4 heavy duty cotton straps which are attached to the solid brass loop and plate and secured by 4 steel keepers. Beneath these straps are two more heavy duty cotton straps, this time extra wide.
Around the back the over vest laces to a centre zip up panel which the webbing feeds through. The lacing has tighteners for adjustment. The back of the belt is made up of three rows of canvas that popper and brass rectangular ring to the webbing. There is a mass of eyelet’s, poppers, buckles, rivets and lacing on this vest, all this armoury comes at a price. With most of it being military spec we have had to hunt around military suppliers to find the correct stuff. Constructing the vest is a mammoth job (but an enjoyable one).
