Clothears Costumes is a team of two who hand craft almost every part that leaves our workshop and any pieces that need to be produced for us are carefully overseen by us and crafted in small quantities by trusted artisans. Every stage of a costumes creation is handled personally by us from discussions with the client, through exhaustive research and construction to packaging and after sales, this is the only way that we can guarantee that a Clothears costume is something special that you will be proud to wear for many years.

So why Clothears? Clothears is a term that originates in the North West of England (which is where we are from) it comes from the time when the area was famous for it’s cotton mills, the machinery in the mills was so loud that the workers soon became hard of hearing and were said to have ‘cloth ears’.

The question we get asked all the time is what is the character with the big ears? is it a rabbit or a mouse? – well it’s a bushbaby, why?… well why not? We wanted a character to represent Clothears, it had to be something with oversized ears and we just liked the bushbaby, it may look weird to have Emperor Palpatine with big ears but hey, you’ll remember it right?
