Costume Description

These costumes were made alongside another Santa Claus costume for a returning customer – Santa’s Magical Grotto over in Northern Ireland for their Christmas 2024 experience. We had free rein over the design of the these costumes so long as there was a Woodland Elf and a Reindeer Elf/Town Spokesperson with a top hat and antlers. Both costumes had to be unisex and to fit a wide variation of sizes, so everything had to be elasticated and as adjustable as possible. They needed to be fun, colourful and recognisable as Christmas elves.

The Woodland Elf costume comprises of a bonnet, long sleeve t-shirt, waistcoat, coat, fingerless mittens, leggings, bloomers and leg warmers. The majority the costume is made from warm wool blends in rich autumnal colours. As this costume is a for a meet and great experience, both indoor and outdoor, we made the costume breakdown into different layers and looks for each environment.

The bonnet is made from wool mix fabrics. The decorative panel at the front continues down to form a wrap around scarf. It is trimmed with appliquéd leaves

The long sleeve t-shirt is made from jersey fabrics with a different colour elasticated cuffing. The sleeves on the t-shirt are a different colour to the body, and the collar matches the cuffs.

The waistcoat is made from wool blends and has a corduroy back with adjuster. The waistcoat is trimmed and has imitation cork buttons.

The coat is made from a selection of wool/wool mix fabrics, some of which we have resourced to match the Mrs Santa costume from 2023. The coat is fully lined with a silky soft striped lining fabric. It has a fold back collar, appliquéd leaves at the waist and for epaulettes and has decorative buttons.

The bloomers are made from a wool mix, striped fabric and are lined with cotton. Both the waist and calves are elasticated with buttonhole elastic so they can either be tightened or loosened to fit to each wearer.

To finish is a pair of wool mix leg warmers.

The Reindeer Elf costume comprises of a top hat, long sleeve t-shirt, waistcoat, coat, fingerless mittens, leggings, skirt and spats. The majority the costume is made from warm wool blends in rich autumnal colours. As this costume is a for a meet and great experience, both indoor and outdoor, we made the costume breakdown into different layers and looks for each environment.

The Brown Straw Top hat was a commission from Carles Marti Chapeaux. We have then dressed the hat with the reindeer harness and bells. The antlers were designed to shape, 3D printed and painted. They fasten securely to a metal band that is hidden beneath the reindeer harness.

The long sleeve t-shirt and leggings are made from jersey fabrics with a different colour elasticated cuffing. The sleeves on the t-shirt are a different colour to the body, and the collar matches the cuffs.

The waistcoat is made from wool blends and has a striped lining fabric back with adjuster. The waistcoat is trimmed with the remnants of the skirt and appliquéd leaves, it fastens with fur hooks.

The coat is made from a selection of wool/wool mix fabrics, some of which we have resourced to match the Santa costume from 2023. The coat is fully lined with a silky soft striped lining fabric. It has an overlay yoke at the front, decorative braids and reindeer buttons. All fur is removable for cleaning.

The skirt is made from strips of three alternate colour wool mix fabrics . The waist is elasticated with buttonhole elastic so it can either be tightened or loosened to fit to each wearer.

To finish is a pair of wool mix spats to partly cover the wearers footwear. The spats have elastic stirrups and decorative buttons.
